Full-Time Science Technician – Secondary School – Wirral

Start Date:September
Location: Wirral
Contract: Full-Time (35 hrs a week)

Are you a passionate and organised individual with a flair for science? A partnership secondary school in the Wirral is seeking a full-time Science Technician to join their dedicated science department from September.

About the Role:
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of practical science lessons across KS3 and KS4. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to ensure all equipment and resources are prepared, maintained, and safely stored, helping to create an engaging and safe learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment for practical science lessons (biology, chemistry, and physics).
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist in the safe disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Support teaching staff during lessons when required.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of science materials and order supplies as needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working as a science technician (preferred) or relevant lab-based experience.
  • A science-related qualification (minimum GCSE level, A-Level or higher desirable).
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • A good understanding of health and safety in a laboratory/school setting.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel).
