Job summary

Sunbury Manor School in Sunbury-on-Thames is seeking a Senior Science Technician to support the delivery of engaging science lessons within the Science Department.

You will manage the department's technical resources, prepare equipment for practical activities, maintain stock levels, and ensure laboratories and preparation rooms operate safely and efficiently. The role requires organisation, initiative and strong communication with teaching staff.

Qualifications

• GCSE English, Maths and Science or equivalent.
• Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of science techniques and laboratory practices.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise equipment, chemicals and resources for lessons and demonstrations.
• Manage storage, maintenance and ordering of science equipment and consumables.
• Ensure laboratories and preparation areas are safe, organised and compliant with safety rules.
• Maintain stock records and support budget control through resource management.
• Carry out minor repairs or coordinate maintenance or replacement of equipment.
• Support teaching staff in delivering practical science and demonstrations.

You will be responsible for managing the department's technical resources, preparing equipment and materials for practical activities, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring laboratories and preparation rooms operate safely and efficiently.,

• Prepare and organise equipment, chemicals and resources for practical science lessons and demonstrations.
• Manage the storage, maintenance and ordering of science equipment and consumables.
• Ensure laboratories and preparation areas are safe, organised and fully compliant with health and safety requirements, including COSHH regulations.
• Maintain stock records and support budget management through effective resource control.
• Carry out minor repairs and coordinate maintenance or replacement of equipment where necessary.
• Support teaching staff in the delivery of practical science and assist with demonstrations when required.

• Holds a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Has knowledge of science techniques and laboratory practices.

• Has excellent organisational and communication skills.
