Job summary

Sunbury Manor School is seeking a dedicated Senior Science Technician to join our Science Department and help deliver engaging practical science lessons. You will manage the department's technical resources, prepare equipment and chemicals for lessons, maintain stock levels, and ensure laboratories and prep rooms operate safely and efficiently in line with COSHH and health & safety requirements.

You will also support teaching staff in practical lessons and contribute to smooth day-to-day running

Qualifications

• GCSE English, Maths and Science (or equivalent) is required.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience is required.
• Knowledge of science techniques and laboratory practices is essential.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH, is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise equipment, chemicals and resources for practical science lessons and demonstrations.
• Manage the storage, maintenance and ordering of science equipment and consumables.
• Ensure laboratories and preparation areas are safe, organised and compliant with health and safety requirements, including COSHH regulations.
• Maintain stock records and support budget management through effective resource control.
• Carry out minor repairs and coordinate maintenance or replacement of equipment when necessary.
• Support teaching staff in the delivery of practical science and assist with demonstrations when required.
• Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of a busy and successful Science Department.
