Job summary

SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

GRADE H1 (2) to H3 (6) + FRINGE ALLOWANCE

(Salary scale dependent upon experience)

Term time only plus one Inset Day in September

Part‑time, 22 hours per week

The Science department has a vacancy for a part‑time Science Technician. The successful applicant will need to be flexible and adaptable. Some scientific background would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given where appropriate. The job is varied involving the setting up and clearing away of equipment, maintenance and repair of equipment and the trialling of experiments. An understanding of health and safety is essential. A good sense of humour is an absolute must, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Pattern Options

Option 1 : Total 3 days

• 2 days – Thursday and Friday – 8:00 to 16:00.
• Plus 1 other day, this can be either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday – 8:00 to 15:30.
• All working days come with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Option 2 : Total 4 days

• 2 days – Thursday and Friday – 8:00 to 16:00 – with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.
• Plus 2 half days (3½ hours), there is flexibility as to whether these are worked on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

The annual salary range (including fringe allowance) is approximately £12,420 to £13,340 per annum (dependent upon experience).
