Job summary

The Laurel Academy in Mexborough is seeking a part-time, permanent Science Technician to join our academy. You will work closely with the Head of Department to ensure equipment and resources are prepared and in good working order to facilitate effective lessons on a daily basis.

Joining a committed science team, you will contribute to a positive learning environment and support pupils and staff. Start date requested in November 2026, with an emphasis on reliability and teamwork.

Job description

As the Technician for the Science department, you will work closely with the Head of Department to support teaching and learning by ensuring equipment and resources are prepared and in good working order to facilitate effective lessons on a daily basis.

The Laurel Academy is an 11 -16 Academy of 800 pupils serving the town of Mexborough and its surrounding area. The Laurel has a rich history within the town since it was established in 1904 and has numerous notable alumni including Poet Laureate Ted Hughes. Mexborough is an ex mining town with a strong sense of community and some wonderful pupils. People who visit the Academy always comment on the excellent behaviour and conduct of the pupils and the welcoming ethos of the Academy.
