Job summary

The Grove School in Market Drayton is seeking a proactive Science Technician to provide practical and technical support to the Science Department. You will ensure lessons are well resourced, equipment is maintained safely, and practical activities are prepared efficiently to support high-quality teaching and learning.

Key tasks include preparing equipment and chemical solutions, supporting demonstrations, maintaining stock, organising laboratories and stores, and ensuring compliance with CLEAPSS

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set out and clear away equipment and materials for science lessons
• Prepare chemical solutions, specimens and apparatus as required
• Provide technical support for practical investigations and demonstrations
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including CLEAPSS guidance
• Carry out risk assessments for practical activities
• Store chemicals, equipment and materials safely
• Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with regulations
• Maintain stock levels and order equipment, chemicals and consumables
• Organise and maintain laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Participate in relevant training and professional development
• Support the school's policies, procedures and values

Key Responsibilities

Practical LessonSupport

• Prepare, set outand clear away equipment and materials for science lessons.

Health and Safety

Resource Management

• Check, clean andundertake basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Administration

• Maintain recordsof equipment, chemicals and safety checks.
• Assist withdepartmental administration as required.
• Support theorganisation of science events, trips and enrichment activities.
