Science Technician : Leytonstone

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Temporary, Full-time (term-time only)

Daily Rate: GBP 110 - GBP 135 per day (depending on experience)

Location: Leytonstone, East London

A dynamic and supportive secondary school in Leytonstone is seeking a Science Technician to join the Science department from September 2025 on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in science who enjoys working in a school environment and supporting practical learning.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will ensure the smooth operation of practical Science lessons across KS3 and KS4. This includes preparing and maintaining equipment, managing stock, and ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up materials and equipment for practical science lessons
  • Assist teachers and students during practical work
  • Maintain and clean apparatus and laboratories
  • Monitor and replenish stock and chemicals
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures, including COSHH
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Have previous experience in a school science lab or similar setting
  • Possess good knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics equipment and procedures
  • Be organised, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS
