Job summary

St Mary's Catholic School in Bishop's Stortford is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join our science team. The role focuses on preparing and maintaining equipment, chemicals and materials for practical lessons and supporting health and safety procedures.

You will help maintain laboratories, ensure resources are available for students aged 11-18, and work 25 hours per week during term-time, with occasional extra hours for events. Enhanced DBS disclosure is required.

Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical lessons; supporting health and safety procedures; maintaining laboratories; and ensuring students have access to resources required to excel.

• Commencing September/October 2026 Contract: Permanent, 25 hours per week Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 10.00 - 3.30 daily, term time only (less 30 minutes unpaid lunch daily)
• occasional additional hours may be requested to assist with open evenings etc
• Salary: H3 5-6 (Fringe) £25,583- £25,989 + £729 FTE, £14,878 - £15,107 actual pro-rata (25 hours per week) paid over 12 months
