A co-educational independent school in Henley-on-Thames seeks a Science Technician to assist in practical and project work in the science department. Applicants should have a background in science and knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Science Technician to provide specialist assistance in the delivery of practical and project work within the science department. We have ten main teaching laboratories and two well-equipped prep rooms, supporting the teaching of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. A Biology specialism would be an advantage but applications are welcomed from all interested candidates.
Salary: Competitive salary with benefits

Working times: Monday to Friday, term time plus INSET
Hours: 8.00am to 3.30pm
Starting October 2025
Provide specialist assistance in the delivery of practical and project work within the science department. Support the teaching in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Ensure health and safety within a laboratory environment. Work as part of a team, use initiative, be approachable and have good communication and organisation skills. Full training will be provided.
Science background; excellent knowledge of health and safety in a laboratory; able to work as part of a team; be proactive, approachable, with a sense of humour. Experience in a school is advantageous, but applications from those outside an education setting are welcomed.
Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for around 580 pupils aged 11 to 18. There has been a co-educational Sixth Form since 1998 and since September 2023 girls have been welcomed into Year 7 as the College became fully co-educational.
