Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assemble apparatus and prepare solutions, chemicals, and specimens for student experiments.
• Clear away equipment safely after lessons and return items to storage.
• Conduct routine maintenance, safety inspections, and electrical testing of laboratory equipment.
• Monitor chemical stocks, waste disposal, and safety data sheets per COSHH rules.
• Support teachers in maintaining a safe, clean, and stimulating learning workspace.

Job description

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across the Science Department, working closely with teaching staff to ensure practical lessons are well prepared, safe and engaging. Experience is preferred but training could be given to the right applicant., You will deliver an efficient and effective technician support service which adds value, facilitates the achievement of educational objectives and contributes to the provision of a safe and stimulating educational environment. This will include:

• Assembling apparatus and preparing solutions, chemicals, and biological specimens for student experiments.
• Clearing away equipment safely after lessons, washing up glassware and returning items to storage.
• Conducting routine maintenance, safety inspections, and electrical testing of laboratory equipment.
• Monitoring chemical stocks, waste disposal, and safety data sheets according to COSHH rules.
