Job summary

Main Purposes Of The Role
  • To support the Science department in the development and education of students at Holmleigh Park High School. To provide technician support for the Science department.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and assemble apparatus, equipment, and chemicals for practical lessons.
  • Assist colleagues in delivering practical support to engage students with Science learning.
  • Keep up-to-date with current procedures and practices through professional development.
  • Provide assistance in the safe storage, transit, and accessibility of resources.
  • Support the team leader/senior technician by ensuring the availability of materials and equipment, helping with orders, liaising with suppliers, sourcing, costing, and suggesting cost-effective alternatives to maintain stock levels.
  • Maintain stock records.
  • Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances, and respond to hazards to keep laboratories ready for reuse.
  • Carry out minor repairs and modifications to equipment to ensure safety in line with Health and Safety policies.
  • Liaise with colleagues to contribute to Science planning and resource development.
  • Work as part of a team to support students' wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development, enhancing their learning and life skills.
  • Contribute to school community activities based on your talents and skills.
  • Participate in supervision and safety arrangements for students during lessons and at the start/end of the school day.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring hazardous materials or spills are managed according to Health and Safety guidelines.
