Main Purposes of the Role:
  • Support the Science department in the development and education of students.
  • Provide technician support for the Science department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare and assemble apparatus, equipment, and chemicals for practical lessons.
  2. Assist colleagues in delivering practical support to enhance students’ Science learning.
  3. Stay updated with current procedures through professional development.
  4. Assist in the safe storage, transit, and accessibility of resources.
  5. Support the team leader or senior technician in maintaining stock levels, including sourcing, costing, and liaising with suppliers.
  6. Maintain accurate stock records.
  7. Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances, responding to hazards to keep laboratories ready for use.
  8. Carry out minor repairs and modifications to equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  9. Collaborate with colleagues on Science planning and resource development.
  10. Work as part of a team to promote student wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development.
  11. Contribute to the school community through your talents and skills.
  12. Supervise and ensure safety of students during lessons and at the start and end of the school day.
  13. Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring removal of debris or spills in accordance with Health and Safety policies.
