Overview

Senior Science Technician. Negotiable Based On Experience And Qualifications.

Are you passionate about science and education? We are currently seeking a Senior Science Technician to join our team. As a key member of the Science Faculty, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education to our students. This position involves working across KS3, KS4 and KS5 including GCSE, A level and BTEC A level classes, covering all science disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation and maintenance of stock and apparatus for lessons and experiments, ensuring they meet the needs of the science curriculum.
  • Stock control and replenishment of materials, equipment, apparatus, software and chemicals.
  • Provision of technical help, guidance and support to teachers and students.
  • Supervision, secure safekeeping and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment; arrange repairs and ensure proper functioning, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Conducting safety checks, risk assessments and generally maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Line management of a science technician.

The Science Faculty at Greig City Academy

This is a great time to be joining our Science Faculty. Science is a highly regarded subject within the school: science results have significantly improved and there is a real buzz of enthusiasm throughout the faculty. The Science Faculty is a highly motivated team striving for excellence, with high expectations of both pupils and staff. Students are encouraged to think for themselves giving them the opportunity to make sense of the work around them.

We are a successful STEM school and the Science Faculty drive forward innovative teaching practices, placing high value on practical work. A range of well attended extra-curricular activities for students at lunchtime and after school are offered, for example KS3 science club and KS4 raising achievement sessions.

The Science Faculty comprises Biology, Chemistry and Physics; it has a suite of ten modern, large and well-equipped, purpose-built laboratories housing a team of thirteen Science teachers and two technicians.
