We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident Science Technician to join our team at Cheadle Hulme High School, on a Fixed-Term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in education, whether you're considering a career in teaching or already have experience working with young people.

As a Science Technician, you will provide an efficient and effective technician support service to the school's science department. If you would like to join our Laurus family in a rewarding role that changes the lives of our pupils by empowering them to become the best that they can be then we would love to hear from you.

This position is contracted on a 25 hours per week Term Time only basis. This means you will mainly work when the school is open to pupils and will not need to work during the school holidays unless the contract requires you to do so. In total you will be in work for a minimum of 37 out of 52 weeks.

Job Purpose

Ensure that all materials/equipment/apparatus is set up ready for practical lessons or demonstrations and that it is retrieved after use, accounted for and returned to the store. Ensure that laboratories and equipment are kept in a safe and tidy manner. This duty includes a daily check of all services to ensure correct operation (reporting faults to the necessary agency) and physically locking and unlocking teaching areas as required.

Key Skills & Experience
  • Sound educational background including GCSE's in Maths and English (A-C) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Prior experience in a similar role
