Job description

Science Teacher - SEN School (Part-time)

Science Teacher, September Start, Part-time

About the School:
We are working with a small dedicated SEMH school in Tameside, catering to secondary-aged boys, with around 8-10 students at any time. The majority of students are Looked After Children (LAC) who have experienced trauma and have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school's nurturing environment aims to provide stability, support, and a tailored educational experience to help our students thrive.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and resilient teacher to join the team on a part-time basis (3 days per week) to teach Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality education to our students, helping them to achieve their full potential. This role requires a compassionate and patient individual who can build strong relationships with students and support them throughout their educational journey.

The school has stated that the teacher does not have to be a Science teacher, since they will only teach basic science lessons and carry out minimal lab work. Therefore, teachers of other specialisms or general cover teachers will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to the needs of SEMH students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them improve.
  • Support students academically, personally, and socially, fostering their overall development.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support students' emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with SEMH students and an understanding of their unique needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A resilient and patient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students.
How to Apply:
If you are a teacher with a passion for making a difference in the lives of vulnerable students, we would love to hear from you. This role is ideal for mature teachers who are not looking for full-time work; it is teaching a small class with TA support available also. Please apply now to submit your CV and register your interest in this role. # 4663001
