Job summary

Connex Education is seeking enthusiastic Science Teachers to work in Reading and surrounding areas from September 2026. Roles range from day-to-day to long-term and short-term, with flexible 2–5 days per week availability.

You’ll teach Biology, Chemistry or Physics across KS3/KS4 and inspire students in a supportive environment. We offer competitive daily rates (£150–£300), weekly PAYE, and access to our Teacher Toolkit plus ongoing support from an education consultant.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, but we welcome applications from qualified, unqualified or trainee teachers with strong science background.
• Experience teaching science to KS3/KS4 in secondary schools.
• Solid knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3/KS4.
• Teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics depending on subject specialism.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students can succeed.
• Inspire curiosity and critical thinking in science.
• Use varied teaching strategies to meet diverse abilities.

Person Specification

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred, but we also welcome applications from:
• Unqualified teachers with strong secondary Science teaching experience.
• Trainee teachers due to achieve QTS.
• Graduates with a degree in a Science-related subject who have relevant classroom or teaching experience and are looking to begin their teaching career.
• A genuine passion for Science and a commitment to helping young people achieve their full potential.
• Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• The ability to engage and inspire students of different abilities.
• A flexible, reliable and professional approach.
• A commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and diversity in education.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
