Job summary

Principal Education is seeking an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a high-performing secondary school in West London from September 2026. You will deliver engaging KS3/KS4 Science lessons, covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and help students build knowledge, skills and enthusiasm for the subject.

The ideal candidate will have QTS and experience teaching KS3/KS4 Science, including GCSE, with excellent classroom management and collaborative team-working abilities.

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong science knowledge across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Experience teaching KS3 & KS4 sciences, including GCSE.
  • Proven classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics as timetabled; adapt to subject specialism.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations and develop exam technique.
  • Incorporate practical investigations to build understanding.
  • Differentiate to meet diverse abilities and learning needs.
  • Use assessments to monitor progress and inform planning.
  • Maintain high behaviour expectations and a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop resources and schemes of work.
  • Contribute to department meetings and curriculum development.
  • Support wider student development and safeguarding policies.

The Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join its successful Science department from September 2026.


This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Science teacher who is looking to join a supportive, ambitious and high-performing secondary school. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop strong scientific knowledge, practical skills and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.


You will be expected to maintain high standards of teaching and learning while creating a positive classroom environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically and achieve their full potential.


Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, adapting teaching to meet the needs of individual learners.

  • Teach engaging lessons covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics, where appropriate to your specialism and timetable.

  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations and ensure they develop strong scientific knowledge and examination technique.

  • Incorporate practical investigations and experiments to develop students' understanding and application of scientific concepts.

  • Differentiate lessons effectively to support students of varying abilities and learning needs.

  • Use assessment and student data to monitor progress, identify gaps in knowledge and inform future planning.

  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, effort and academic achievement.

  • Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and independent thinking.

  • Provide regular, constructive feedback to help students understand how to improve.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science department to develop resources, schemes of work and effective teaching strategies.

  • Contribute to departmental meetings, assessment and curriculum development.

  • Support the wider academic and personal development of students.

  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school and uphold its safeguarding policies and expectations.


The Ideal Candidate

The successful Science Teacher will:



  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Have strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science.

  • Have experience teaching KS3 and KS4 Science, ideally including GCSE.

  • Have excellent classroom management and the ability to establish positive relationships with students.

  • Be confident delivering practical Science and developing students' investigative skills.

  • Be committed to raising attainment and ensuring every student makes strong progress.

  • Be adaptable and able to differentiate effectively for students with different abilities and learning needs.

  • Have excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

  • Be reliable, enthusiastic and committed to contributing to the school's wider community.

  • Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
