Smart Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join a supportive alternative provision in the Middlesbrough area. This role offers the opportunity to teach students aged who face a range of challenges, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD).

In this setting, you won t just be teaching you ll be empowering students with practical knowledge, self-belief, and the curiosity to explore the world around them. Your lessons will inspire, engage, and provide structure for learners who benefit from a nurturing and consistent approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and practical Science lessons tailored to varied learning needs

• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

• Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour in the classroom

What We re Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent

• Strong subject knowledge in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general)

• Experience working with additional needs, preferably in SEN, PRU, or alternative settings

• Effective classroom and behaviour management skills

• A patient, adaptable, and positive teaching approach

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• A passion for making science accessible and inspiring
