Job description

A well-established and forward-thinking secondary school in Manchester is seeking a passionate Biology Teacher to join their dedicated science department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and engage KS3 and KS4 students with practical, creative, and knowledge-rich biology lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality biology lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.

  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to foster understanding and enthusiasm for biology.

  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of extracurricular science activities such as clubs, trips, and projects to enrich the curriculum.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the science department and across the school to promote cross-curricular learning and support school priorities.

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in lessons, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred, but exceptional candidates without QTS will be considered.

  • Strong subject knowledge in biology with a passion for teaching and learning.

  • Experience teaching at KS3 and KS4, with an understanding of examination specifications and assessment criteria.

  • Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students, including those with SEN and EAL.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and contributing to whole-school improvement initiatives.

Contract Details:

  • Full-time role, long-term supply or permanent position available.

  • Term time only, with school holidays in line with the academic calendar.

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
