Job Title: Science Teacher

Location: Stockport

Salary: 135 - 205 per day (DOE)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

Reeson Education is proud to be working in partnership with an amazing SEN setting in the heart of Wythenshawe. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Science Teacher to join their dedicated team and make a significant impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.

About the Science Teacher Role:

As a Science Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in the educational journey of our young people. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing an outstanding learning experience tailored to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Creating a calm, safe, and conducive learning environment that promotes engagement and curiosity in science.
  • Committing to the holistic education of every child, fostering their emotional well-being alongside academic growth.
  • Understanding and implementing the school's philosophy and policies in your teaching practice.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of your role.

Curriculum Responsibilities:

The role of Science Teacher involves a unique investigative approach, as you will work to identify the interests and learning styles of each pupil. Your duties will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and evaluating tailored learning programmes that promote physical, emotional, social, cultural, and moral development.
  • Teaching both individual students and small groups, adapting lessons and teaching methods as necessary.
  • Supporting students in preparing for public exams and assessing their abilities to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Participating in the supervision of pupils during exams and presentations.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and ensuring that school activities enrich pupils' overall development.

Pupil Engagement:

A successful Science Teacher will excel in building meaningful connections with pupils. In this role, you will:

  • Stay informed about safe working practices and maintain a focus on health and safety.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team and fellow educators to develop courses, materials, and assessment methods.

General Duties of a Science Teacher:

In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will be expected to:

  • Prioritise the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in accordance with school policies.
  • Engage in regular reviews of your teaching methods and work programmes with senior staff.
  • Foster relationships based on trust, understanding, and respect as students navigate their educational journey.
  • Serve as a role model, setting high expectations that encourage both academic and personal growth.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students understand their progress and set achievable goals.

Assessment and Reporting:

Accurate assessment and reporting are crucial to supporting pupils' futures. As a Science Teacher, you will:

  • Utilise available mechanisms to assess the emotional well-being, learning, and behaviour of students.
  • Maintain detailed records of assessments and prepare insightful reports for Annual Reviews and other meetings.
