Job title: Teacher of Science
Salary: MPS/UPS Inner London
Contract type: Permanent
Line Manager: Head of Science
Start Date: September 2025


Responsibilities:
We are looking to recruit a personable, well-qualified and motivated individual to join our highly successful and innovative school as a Teacher of Science, on a full-time basis. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and have an ability to enthuse and inspire pupils, contributing keenly to the wider life of the school.
Key responsibilities:

  1. To plan, prepare, develop, evaluate and review lessons and teaching programmes in accordance with the school policies
  2. To contribute to the preparation and development of schemes of work and teaching materials in response to school policies and in response to changes in national and school assessment procedures
  3. Ensure that student data about progress, attainment and achievement is used effectively to improve student outcomes
  4. Attend and take an active part in department meetings
  5. To be a tutor and to be the first port of call with respect to the welfare and overall academic progress of individuals in the tutor group
  6. To assist with the management of behaviour and movement of students around the site and participate in the school’s duty rota
  7. To participate and assist with the organisation of trips and activities
Other responsibilities:
  1. Regularly reflect upon your performance, set targets, action plan and review your work
  2. Keep an up to date professional portfolio (CPD file)
  3. Take an active part in the Performance Management process with your line manager, sharing your success stories as well as your challenges
  4. Take responsibility for your work, encourage and accept feedback from your colleagues and your line manager and respond to or adapt to change as required
  5. Continue to learn and develop as a professional, completing induction, attending relevant training to update knowledge and skills, enhancing qualifications and engaging in annual performance review
  6. Build excellent professional relationships with children, parents and other professionals in the school
  7. Provide an excellent administrative service to all sections of the school community regardless of race, sex, background or age
  8. Due to the size of the establishment, it should be emphasised that all support staff are regularly required to assist in different areas and you may be asked to undertake such other duties as the Headteacher from time to time may direct

Qualifications and Training:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status with degree
  2. Evidence of continued professional development

Experience:

  1. Experience in an administrative role, preferably within an educational or pastoral setting.
  2. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple administrative tasks.
  3. Proficiency in using school management information systems (MIS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and manage correspondence.
  5. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data management.
  7. Ability to build positive working relationships with staff, students, parents, and external agencies.

Personal Qualities:

  1. Ability to build and form good relationships with students, colleagues and parents/carers.
  2. Ability to adapt approach to the needs of all students.
  3. Knowledge of the issues that affect young people and impact their development.
  4. Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities.
  5. Ability to work independently.
  6. Ability to deal with confidential data/issues appropriately.
