Position description / Job description

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring Science lessons tailored to the needs of students with autism and SEMH.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans, incorporating therapeutic approaches.
  • Collaborate effectively with the pastoral team and family liaison team to ensure holistic student support.
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments, and progress reports for each student.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's Science curriculum.
  • Create a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Participate in school events and initiatives to foster a strong school community.

Requirements

We're looking for you, if:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching Science to students with autism and/or SEMH (minimum 1 year).
  • A passion for making learning engaging and accessible for all students, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including pastoral staff and therapists.
  • A commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and individualised learning plans (ILPs).
  • Experience using a range of assessment methods to track student progress.
