Job description

Up to £51,763 + excellent benefits

Our teachers are fulfilled by making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, celebrating these "huge small victories." While these victories may seem small, they collectively make a significant difference.

Get out what you put in

You'll work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your role will involve helping them learn, develop their abilities, and boost their self-esteem. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the pride in achieving these "huge small victories" will be rewarding.

It can be challenging, but positive progress makes it worthwhile. As a Science Teacher at Witherslack Group, you'll receive full support from in-house psychologists, teaching assistants, and therapy professionals. Our colleagues are highly skilled, and our well-resourced school environments will support your success. We are committed to helping you build a rewarding teaching career.

One of the best environments in SEND

The transformational impact of Avon Park School is evident to parents, carers, and professionals. The school's strong ethos of "high expectations and aspirations for every child" has earned it an Outstanding rating from Ofsted.

All staff, including teaching, pastoral, and therapy teams, collaborate to ensure pupils develop academically, emotionally, and personally. This whole-school approach helps pupils with ADHD, ASD, Asperger's, or SEMH grow into confident, capable young people eager to succeed.

What we do for you

We believe you'll do great things. In return for your hard work and commitment, you'll receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • Training: Full induction and on-the-job training

  • Holidays: Full school holidays off

  • Progression: Opportunities for career advancement within our group

  • Flexible benefits: Options to tailor benefits like life insurance

  • Pension schemes: Including Teachers' Pension and attractive alternatives

  • Wellbeing support: Tools and advice, including employee assistance

  • Medical cover: Reimbursements for opticians, dentists, and discounts

  • Facilities: Well-equipped, beautiful working environments

  • Referral bonus: £1,000 for each successful friend referral

Bring your whole-self to work

Our diverse young people come from various backgrounds and needs, and our workforce reflects that diversity. To connect with our pupils, you'll need:

  • A 'can do' attitude and team spirit

  • Passion for teaching Science and its impact

  • Ability to relate your subject to pupils and build relationships

  • Enthusiasm and expertise to develop your department

  • Previous teaching experience and Qualified Teacher Status
