Job summary

The Elton High School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled full-time teacher of Science to join our high-performing team from 1 January 2027. A 0.8 timetable option will be considered, and applications are welcome from both ECTs and experienced teachers.

The post has arisen due to retirement in the current team. We are a significantly oversubscribed school with a strong track record of achievement and supportive staff wellbeing initiatives, including Golden Week and an annual Well-being Day.

The Elton High School

Required from 1st January 2027, a full-time permanent Teacher of Science (0.8 will be considered) - Pay Spine

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled full-time teacher of Science to join our supportive and high-performing team. 0.8 timetable requests will also be considered and we welcome applications from both ECTs and experienced teachers alike. The vacancy has arisen due to the retirement of the current postholder.

The Elton High School is a significantly oversubscribed school with a tradition of excellence. We have a history of high achievement with results regularly placing us as amongst the highest performing schools in Bury LA and amongst the top proportion of schools in the country. Our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2026) reiterated the strengths that had been confirmed in the previous reports. The inspection team noted that “Pupils describe feeling happy, safe and proud of their school.” Our students achieve well, with the inspectors being particularly impressed with relationships between students and staff, describing them as “warm, respectful and trusting.”
