Hello! My name is Emma, and I am the Accountable Pharmacist for the Clinical Trials Aseptic Services Unit in Oxford.
We have an exciting opportunity to train individuals with the knowledge and skills required to work in aseptic dispensing within Oxford University Hospitals. This role is suitable for staff working in a pharmacy team with a BTEC 2 or equivalent and interested in working in an aseptic team preparing doses for patients, or school/college leavers looking to start their career. Applications from candidates without a pharmacy BTEC 2 will be considered if they are willing to undertake this qualification prior to enrolling in the SMT apprenticeship course.
I manage and support our technical team of Pharmacy Technicians, Science Manufacturing Technicians, Clinical Trial Practitioners, Assistants, and Apprentices, providing support services to clinical trial research teams across Oxfordshire.

The main focus of this role is to participate in work-based training and development to gain knowledge and experience in aseptic dispensing and manufacturing at Oxford University Hospitals. The role will primarily be based in the Clinical Trials Aseptic Services Unit, with rotations into the Radiopharmacy and Quality Assurance teams.
The Clinical Trials Aseptic Services Unit (CTASU) is responsible for aseptically preparing clinical trial doses for patients across the Trust and maintaining documentation according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Under the supervision of the Accountable Pharmacist and Aseptic Services Manager or Deputy, the post holder will handle daily activities related to aseptic services to support patient needs, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and GCP standards.
This role involves regular weekend work to support clinical trial dose preparation during weekends.
