Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a thriving secondary school in Northumberland to find a motivated Science Technician to support the science department and deliver practical lessons.

You'll prepare equipment, maintain safety standards, manage stock, and assist teachers, enabling pupils to develop curiosity and confidence in science.

Qualifications

• A relevant science degree or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures is essential.
• Experience in a school or educational setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and experiments for practical science lessons across the secondary curriculum.
• Working closely with science teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly and pupils have the resources they need to succeed.
• Maintaining, organising, and safely storing laboratory equipment and scientific materials.
• Promoting high standards of laboratory safety and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
• Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring the department remains well equipped.
• Carrying out basic equipment maintenance and arranging repairs where necessary.
• Safely handling and disposing of chemicals and hazardous laboratory waste in line with relevant procedures.
