Job summary

Rugby High School is seeking a Science Technician to support practical lessons and maintain a safe, well-run science department.

You will provide and prepare resources for experiments, assist with safe storage and handling of materials, support the senior technician team with equipment maintenance and cleaning, and contribute to safeguarding duties. The post is 37 hours per week, term-time 39 weeks, starting 1 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Ensure health & safety standards compliance for all practical activities.
• Assist with safeguarding duties as part of school welfare responsibilities.
• Willingness to undergo DBS checks and pre-employment clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide and prepare resources for practical lessons that meet health and safety standards.
• Assist in safe storage, transit and accessibility of resources.
• Support the senior technician team in maintaining a healthy, safe and productive work environment through routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, laboratories and prep rooms.
• Contribute to the school’s safeguarding duties and welfare of children.
