Job summary

King Edward VI Academy in Spilsby seeks a dedicated Science Technician to support four science teachers. You will prepare materials, chemical solutions and specimens, and ensure safe lab setup and operation within the dedicated science block.

You will also assist in delivering practical learning activities and supervise equipment use. We value organisation, strong communication, and a proactive approach to health and safety in a fast-paced educational environment.

Qualifications

Clear understanding of the role and responsibilities in a school science department.
Ability to maintain stock and safety records.
Experience in laboratory preparation and assisting with practical lessons.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Awareness of health and safety in educational laboratories.

Responsibilities

Prepare materials for practical lessons within the department.
Prepare chemical solutions and biological specimens.
Set up, test and prepare apparatus and equipment following safety rules.
Assist delivery of learning activities as planned by teaching staff.
Supervise and guide others in equipment operation while upholding safety standards.
Maintain safe working areas and monitor risk assessments for experiments.
