Marchant Recruitment is seeking a proactive Science Technician for a large secondary school in Liverpool. You will prepare practical activities, ensure labs are safe and ready for learning, and support teachers with demonstrations and investigations.

Ideal candidates hold a science degree, have school/lab experience, know safety procedures, and can manage equipment and stock. DBS clearance or willingness to obtain is required; rights to work in the UK essential.

Formación

• A relevant science degree or equivalent scientific qualification.
• Previous laboratory experience, preferably within a school or similar environment.
• Good understanding of health and safety in practical laboratory settings.
• Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Confidence to work with teaching staff and support a busy department.
• Right to work in the UK.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain the required clearance.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare laboratories for lessons by setting up equipment, chemicals and materials.
• Support science teachers with demonstrations and hands-on activities.
• Keep laboratory equipment organised, maintained and safely stored.
• Ensure labs meet health and safety standards for a safe learning environment.
• Track supplies, check stock levels and order materials when needed.
• Carry out routine checks and report equipment needing repair or replacement.
• Handle and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials per safety procedures.
• Help the science department run smoothly so lessons run effectively.
