Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support a secondary science department in Bradford on a full-time, temporary basis starting in September. The role involves preparing practical experiments, managing chemical stock, maintaining equipment and enforcing health and safety guidelines across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of core practical techniques across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Thorough knowledge of school lab safety rules, hazard symbols and risk assessments.
• Practical experience in assisting in a school laboratory or educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble apparatus, reagents, and specimens for daily practical lessons across KS3/KS4.
• Ensure strict adherence to COSHH and CLEAPSS safety protocols.
• Monitor, log and reorder science consumables and equipment.
• Inspect, clean, test and perform minor repairs on laboratory instruments.
• Provide direct technical support to teachers and students during experiments.
• Safely manage waste disposal according to guidelines.
