Job description

Science and Safety Technician (2 positions available Full time and Part time)
Permanent, working 37 or 30 hrs per week. Hours per week negotiable, term time only plus 6 inset days.
Salary: Grade 4 £24,790 to £25,183 per annum pro rata
Actual Salary for 37 Hours £21,527 to £21,868 per annum
Actual salary for 30 hours £17,454 to £17,731 per annum


John Taylor Multi Academy Trust (JTMAT) believes in the power of education to improve lives – and the world. As a partner academy in JTMAT, we are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and committed people to join our evolving organisation. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Science and Safety Technicians to join our friendly and well-established science department. Working within a newly refurbished Science Department, you will have a network of support throughout the trust. There are multiple opportunities to get involved in our exciting extracurricular science-based events such as our forensic and robotics days.


This is a multi-faceted, diverse and fulfilling role which entails classroom and technical support within the science department. The Ideal candidate will have a passion and background in science. Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential as training will be given.

Candidates must have the following:

  1. Good numeracy and literacy skills
  2. Understanding and ability to use relevant equipment, as well as understanding of COSHH
  3. Ability to work cohesively within a team
  4. Ability to communicate and relate well with adults and children.
