Job Description

The Science and Regulatory Affairs (SRA) Strategic Sustainability Claims Senior Manager is recognized as a key expert on strategic sustainability claims, supporting Mars Pet Nutrition’s growth and its purpose of A Better World for Pets.

As a vital member of the Global Science and Regulatory Affairs (GSRA) Team, this role will lead the development, activation, and implementation of global sustainability claims. Responsibilities include devising strategies for global innovation projects with sustainability components, conducting regulatory risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating on ingredient approvals with sustainability benefits.

What are we looking for?
  • BSc in environmental science/technology, natural/biological science, or regulatory affairs preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in regulatory affairs related to sustainability and environmental issues.
  • Experience in a technical environment, including R&D in a business context.
  • Proven track record in managing regulatory compliance and risk assessment for sustainability claims.
  • Ability to navigate and simplify complex topics.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills with diverse teams.
  • Digital literacy with knowledge management and reporting system skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure sustainability claims comply with regulations and stay updated on relevant standards.
  • Partner with teams to develop sustainability claims aligned with compliance and consumer relevance.
  • Conduct materiality assessments to prioritize issues and ensure impactful claims.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with sustainability claims.
  • Lead efforts to anticipate future claims, ensuring prompt substantiation and regional harmonization.
  • Maintain a claims process to ensure efficiency across all claim types.
  • Create and maintain a sustainability claims library with documentation and audit support.
  • Monitor regulatory environment and legislative developments, updating regional teams.
  • Develop external networks with testing houses and authorities to stay informed.
  • Assess external stakeholder viewpoints and develop strategies to position claims effectively.
  • Deliver training on sustainability claims as needed.
  • Collaborate on ingredient assessments to integrate sustainability benefits into new approvals.
