Job summary

Telent Technology Services Ltd seeks a SCIDA Field Engineer (Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority) to support Defence ICT assurance for RAF and wider MOD estates. You will ensure ICT systems are designed, installed and maintained to high security and engineering standards.

The role is based at Blandford, Dorset with flexibility to travel to other MOD sites and occasional overnight stays. You will need SCIDA background, strong documentation skills and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• SCIDA knowledge or experience with RAF/MOD environments preferred.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Good communication, written and verbal skills at senior level.

Responsibilities

• Deliver SCIDA services per Air SCIDA Engineering Instructions and JSP 453.
• Conduct initial design reviews and identify compliance risks.
• Perform post-installation inspections and coordinate issue resolution.
• Follow Telent and MOD Health & Safety regulations and Environmental Protection rules.
• Provide cover for colleagues and maintain continuity documentation.
• Serve as point of contact for allocated sites and report to Area Manager.
• Attend siting boards, surveys and RAF/MOD meetings to support delivery.
• Report non-compliances in design, installation or policy.

As a SCIDA Field Engineer (Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority), you’ll work at the heart of Defence ICT assurance, supporting the RAF and wider MOD estate by ensuring that ICT systems are designed, installed and maintained to the highest security, safety and engineering standards.

We are seeking professionals ideally from Telecoms, RAF, Armed Forces or Defence engineering backgrounds, confident working independently. This role will be based at Blandford, Dorset and require flexibility to travel to other MOD sites as the project requires along with occasional overnight stays.

What you’ll do

• Deliver SCIDA services in accordance with Air SCIDA Engineering Instructions and JSP 453
• Conduct initial design reviews and identify compliance risks
• Perform post-installation inspections and coordinate resolution of issues
• Follow Telent and MOD Health & Safety and Environmental Protection regulations
• Provide cover for colleagues during absence and maintain continuity documentation
• Serve as the point of contact for allocated sites, reporting to the Area Manager
• Attend siting boards, surveys and RAF/MOD meetings to support project delivery
• Report non-compliances in design, installation or policy to appropriate stakeholders
• Provide briefings and technical advice to RAF personnel and Air SCIDA Engineers
• Contribute to SCIDA documentation and Engineering Instructions
• Attend engineering meetings and participate in ECR reviews
• Advise Site Executives and OC Engineers on engineering compliance
• Conduct site assessments and produce cost estimates for SCIDA support
• Offer specialist knowledge (e.g., confined spaces, working at height, fire safety)

Who you are

You are a structured, disciplined and self-motivated engineer with strong Defence industry ICT experience. You work confidently across multiple locations, communicate effectively at senior level, and produce clear technical documentation. Experience in SCIDA, RAF engineering, Telecoms or MOD related ICT gives you the capability to interpret standards, assess compliance and guide safe, secure and high-quality installations.

Key Requirements

• SCIDA Foundation courses (desirable, but will be provided if not already held)
• SCIDA experience (AIR or other related environments)
• Working and practical knowledge of Joint Service Publications such as JSP 453, including British and NATO Standards
• Experience with MOD CIS/ICT/ATM systems including Crypto and/or TEMPEST awareness
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skillsGood communication, written and verbal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites
• SC Clearance (or ability to obtain) Required and UK National Requirement
• Full UK Driving Licence
