Job Overview

Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a London-based Local Authority for a Schools Accountant to join on a temporary basis. The role involves supporting various schools based on their purchased support packages. The focus is primarily on financial responsibilities, distinct from the typical SBM duties.

Main Responsibilities

1. Transactional support including payments, month-end reconciliation, and VAT submissions
2. Strategic support such as budget analysis and expenditure reporting to Governing Bodies and headteachers
3. Assisting schools in developing Deficit Recovery Plans
4. Implementing new finance systems and providing related training

Candidate Criteria

• CCAB/CIMA Qualified or Part-Qualified preferred
• Good knowledge of Schools Funding and ability to liaise effectively with Heads and Governors
• Experience in Schools Accounting within a Local Authority is highly desirable
• Awareness of national policies affecting schools funding
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
