Job summary

West Sussex County Council’s Transport Provision Team is seeking an enthusiastic driver to provide a safe, efficient transport service for children and young adults. You will operate 4–16 seat vehicles to varied locations, following schedules and maintaining high professionalism and good communication with passengers.

The role is term-time only with permanent terms, part-time hours up to 30 per week, and base at Drayton Depot near Chichester, with work across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Drive safely and in accordance with the Highway Code regulations.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and passengers, build trusting relationships and exercise persuasive skills.
• Able to resolve straightforward problems.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills gained through education or experience.
• Valid UK driving licence is required.
• Driving licence category D1 or PCV is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles with 4–16 seats to and from various locations following schedules.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and ensure passenger safety.
• Communicate with passengers and colleagues to ensure smooth journeys.
• Work across multiple locations from Drayton Depot near Chichester; base location subject to change.
