Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a dedicated transport driver to serve children and young adults, operating 4-16 seater vehicles across multiple locations. You will follow schedules, communicate with passengers, and uphold high safety standards in a busy, public-facing environment.

The role offers term-time only hours with permanent status, paid hourly. Training on disability and safety topics is provided, plus benefits and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Ability to drive safely and considerately in accordance with the Highway Code regulations.
• Ability to communicate successfully with colleagues and passengers, build trusting relationships and exercising persuasive skills.
• Ability to resolve straightforward problems.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills gained through education or through relevant experience.
• Valid UK driving licence - Driving licence category D1 or PCV is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient driving service to children and young adult passengers.
• Follow instructions to ensure schedules are met across multiple locations.
• Operate vehicles carrying 4-16 seats in a safe, professional manner.
• Communicate effectively with passengers and colleagues to ensure welfare and safety.
