Dalbeattie High School is committed to providing excellent educational experiences and opportunities. We focus on developing young people as leaders and responsible citizens who positively impact the school and wider communities. We establish partnerships with parents, primary schools, the local community, and other learning partners.

We are seeking to recruit a Technical Technician (10 hours/week, 39 weeks/year) on a fixed-term basis for up to one year to support staff and students with technical resources. Responsibilities include maintaining resources efficiently to facilitate practical learning, with attention to Health and Safety.

This role may be suitable for secondment; applicants should seek approval from their line manager before applying.

The position primarily supports practical work in the Design and Technology department, including Woodworking, Metalwork, and Design and Manufacture. Relevant qualifications and experience could include mechanical engineering, joinery, woodworking, metalworking, or mechanical maintenance.

Applicants should have at least a SCQF Level 6 education or equivalent and demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Professional Development. Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations in technical workshop environments is essential. Flexibility, teamwork, strong interpersonal skills, and confidentiality are required.

This post is classified as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a scheme update check before employment.

Applicants with recent residence outside the UK will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities.
