Job description

The Education Network are a leading supply teaching agency, currently recruiting Sports Coaches / Graduates on behalf of several schools in Durham.

Due to high demand, we aim to expand our pool of Sports Coaches/Graduates to work in secondary schools on both a daily and long-term basis.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in various schools, gaining diverse teaching experience.

Requirements include at least 6 months experience working with students aged 11-18, enthusiasm and passion for education, and a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

Responsibilities typically include:

  1. Supervising classes in the absence of the permanent teacher, including introducing and closing the lesson, following instructions from senior staff.
  2. Completing class registers.
  3. Maintaining constructive classroom management and promoting a positive learning environment.
  4. Displaying enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, confidence, and independence.
  5. Ensuring pupils stay on task and complete work to the best of their ability.
  6. Assisting students with questions and providing appropriate responses.
  7. Following lesson outlines and collecting completed work and resources.
  8. Adhering to school policies and procedures, handling emergencies effectively.
  9. Providing feedback to the class teacher about progress, behaviour, and relevant issues.
