School Site Supervisor – Location: East London; Job Type: Full-time; Working Hours: 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday; Pay: £16 - £19 per hour.

We are seeking a dedicated experienced School Caretaker to join our team in East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the school premises, ensuring a safe and clean environment for staff and students. This role requires a proactive individual who takes pride in their work and can manage a variety of tasks efficiently.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of the school premises to identify maintenance needs.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Ensure the security of the school buildings by managing access points and key distribution.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the school grounds, including litter picking and managing waste disposal.
  • Set up furniture and equipment for school events and rearrange as required.
  • Liaise with external contractors for specialised maintenance work.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor heating and lighting systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and report any concerns to the school management.
Required skills & qualifications
  • Previous experience in caretaking or facilities maintenance (alternatively if you have maintenance or handyperson experience that will also be sufficient).
  • Good practical skills in handling repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to undergo a DBS check.
