Job summary

Prospero Teaching is assisting a thriving secondary school in Thurrock, Essex, to recruit a reliable Site Manager & Minibus Driver. The role emphasises safety, site presentation, and supporting school transport for visits and activities.

The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day site operations, perform maintenance and safety checks, and drive the minibus on educational trips with a flexible, proactive approach to tasks.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Site Manager, Caretaker, Facilities, or Estates role.
• A practical approach with strong maintenance and DIY skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and site compliance requirements.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
• A full, clean UK driving licence.
• Experience driving a minibus or willingness to complete relevant training.
• A flexible and positive attitude with a commitment to supporting the school community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of the school site.
• Carry out routine repairs, maintenance, and health & safety checks.
• Manage contractors and oversee site-related projects where required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
• Open and close the school premises as required.
• Monitor and maintain school facilities, grounds, and equipment.
• Drive the school minibus for educational visits, sporting fixtures, and other school activities.
• Carry out vehicle checks and ensure the minibus is maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard.
• Support the wider school team with general operational requirements.
