School Site Manager
Location: Wigan
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (long-term into next year)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Two-week shift pattern
- Week A: 6:00am–2:00pm (Monday–Thursday), 6:00am–1:00pm (Friday)
- Week B: 11:30am–7:30pm (Monday–Friday)
To be considered, you must hold a current Enhanced DBS, have previous experience working as a School Site Manager and be available to start immediately.
Key Duties
- Supervise the school’s operational areas day-to-day, ensuring buildings and premises are maintained to a high standard, safe, and clean.
- Undertake legislative compliance tests and inspections following training, e.g., fire alarms, legionella, emergency lighting.
- Operate and respond to alarm systems (fire and intruder) where appropriate.
- Act as key holder and carry out security procedures for the building and grounds, including routine and non-routine opening and securing of the premises. Respond to calls outside normal hours in exceptional circumstances (provided by an external agency as a last resort).
- Receive deliveries of stores, materials, and other goods and distribute them to the correct locations.
- Undertake routine maintenance and report serious faults to the Site Manager/Site Supervisor.
- Conduct weekly and monthly planned maintenance activities.
- Be available for out-of-hours phone calls regarding the site and lettings when required.
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance, including painting, decoration, jet washing, and ceiling tile replacement.
- Maintain boundaries, footpaths, roads, flower beds/planters, and rights of way within the estate.
- Ensure all areas are free from litter and drains/gullies are clean and free-flowing.
- Set up and remove furniture as required.
- Liaise with contractors on site.

- Perform duties in an effective, efficient, and economic manner.
- Work safely in compliance with work-related risk assessments.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Support the development and promotion of a positive image consistent with the aims of the school.
- Undertake Health & Safety training appropriate to the role.
- Be flexible within the duties specified; may be expected to perform additional work within the remit of the role and work at other schools on occasion.
