Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is advertising a part-time caretaker role for a school site in Chesham. Working 20 hours per week (2:30pm–6:30pm), you will provide security, undertake health and safety checks, and manage premises maintenance with some heavy lifting and DIY tasks.

Ad-hoc overtime may be required and leave is 22 days per year. The role requires proactive work, flexibility, and the ability to work with the cleaning team as needed; training for COSHH and health/safety is provided where

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining a site to a safe standard.
• Familiarity with health and safety guidelines (training provided).
• Ability to perform routine checks and respond to issues promptly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the security of the school site.
• Be responsible for routine Health & Safety checks and statutory reviews (including COSHH, training provided).
• Be responsible for premises management and maintenance to ensure the site is kept clean and safe and in a good state of repair.
• Undertake emergency cleaning duties and support the cleaning staff where required.
• Assist with movements of deliveries, furniture or anything else around the site.
• Have a reasonable standard of DIY/maintenance experience.
• Be able to work proactively under their own initiative.
• Ideally have some experience of Health & Safety guidelines (training provided).
• Be adaptable, flexible and cheerful.
