Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting an outstanding school in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, to recruit a dedicated School Caretaker. The role starts September 2026 and offers a full-time, permanent contract with a competitive salary dependent on experience.

The successful candidate will maintain buildings and grounds, conduct health and safety checks, support school events and manage contractors to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance or site management role.
• Practical maintenance and DIY skills across a range of tasks.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures in schools or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the school buildings and grounds to a high standard.
• Carry out routine repairs and basic DIY tasks.
• Conduct regular health and safety inspections and keep records.
• Open and secure the school site each day.
• Manage contractors and oversee maintenance works when required.
• Assist with setting up rooms for assemblies, exams, and events.
• Monitor site equipment and report issues promptly.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
• Support emergency procedures and respond to site incidents.
