Qualifikationen

• Previous experience as Science Technician in a school or educational laboratory is essential.
• A scientific qualification or relevant practical laboratory experience is required.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemical handling and safe storage procedures.
• Familiarity with COSHH, CLEAPSS guidance and risk assessments.
• Good stock control, record-keeping and organisational skills.
• Ability to follow technical instructions accurately and manage deadlines.
• An enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete safeguarding checks.

Aufgaben

• Preparing and setting up practical experiments for Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons across the relevant key stages.
• Preparing solutions, materials and equipment in accordance with teachers' instructions and approved procedures.
• Checking apparatus before lessons and ensuring laboratory equipment is clean, functional and stored correctly.
• Maintaining chemical inventories, monitoring stock levels and arranging replenishment where authorised.
• Ensuring chemicals and laboratory materials are stored, labelled and handled appropriately.
• Following applicable COSHH requirements, CLEAPSS guidance and the school's laboratory risk assessments.
• Maintaining preparation rooms, laboratories and storage areas in a clean and organised condition.
• Reporting damaged equipment, safety concerns and maintenance requirements.
• Supporting the safe disposal of laboratory waste and maintaining relevant records.
