Job summary

Envision Education in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a practical Premises Assistant & Site Manager to support two connected schools. The role combines 15 hours as Premises Assistant and 5 hours as Site Manager, with hands-on maintenance and coordination of premises operations to keep sites safe and well maintained.

The ideal candidate will have DIY skills, understand safety rules, and be able to work independently while supervising others and coordinating contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience with routine maintenance and minor repairs in a school or similar setting.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, able to lead others.
• Willingness to travel between school sites and support multiple locations.
• Commitment to safeguarding and DBS checks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, decoration and general caretaking duties across school buildings and grounds.
• Coordinate planned and urgent maintenance, supervise premises staff and manage contractors to ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Complete and monitor health and safety checks, risk assessments and statutory inspections, maintaining accurate records.
• Oversee site security, keyholding, cleaning standards and grounds maintenance, including emergency access outside normal school hours.
• Help manage premises budgets, obtain quotations and support school events, lettings and improvements to the facilities.
