The School Nurse promotes good health and prevents ill health in young people, families, and communities through raising awareness, identifying unmet health needs, and developing, implementing, and evaluating care plans. They work within a defined area, assessing needs, delegating, and supervising team work. The role emphasizes early intervention, health promotion, advocacy, empowerment, social inclusion, and reducing health inequalities.
School Nurses collaborate with young people, families, schools, communities, primary care, statutory and voluntary services, and other partners to facilitate health-enhancing activities. They establish networks within the community to inform, influence, and implement health policies.
To ensure accessible and high-quality services, we offer a Duty Desk service for all families with children aged 5-19 in these areas.
