Job summary

Manor School in Brent (Kensal Rise) is recruiting a SMSA for the Kensal Rise site to support children with complex communication and needs during lunchtime. You will work with SMSA and teaching staff, supervising eating and play, while prioritising safety and safeguarding.

Applicants with a keen interest in special needs and a positive, energetic, nurturing approach are encouraged. An enhanced DBS check and references are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of SEND is preferred.
• Experience or knowledge of autism and/or a range of learning needs and disabilities is an advantage.
• An enhanced DBS check and references will be required.

Responsibilities

• To supervise children during the lunchtime break, including managing and supporting eating and play opportunities.
• To work co-operatively and in close partnership with all SMSA and class-based staff colleagues.
• To be vigilant and alert to all aspects of health & safety and safeguarding during this time.

Manor School provides an Ofsted-judged ‘Outstanding’ specialist learning environment for pupils with a wide range of special needs. We have a clear and strong vision of ‘love, learn, laugh’ which we achieve through creating a positive, engaging setting where all pupils can reach their full potential.

The school is split across three sites in Brent: Manor School, Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise, the Manor School Early Years Centre (MSEYC) is on Bridge Road in Neasden. And our third Site is at Canterbury Road, Kilburn. We are recruiting for an SMSA at the Kensal Rise site at this time but would like to share that in the future as a three site school staff may be asked to work at any of the three sites.

The successful applicant will be working in a provision supporting children with complex communication, behaviour and sensory processing needs. Previous experience of SEND is therefore preferred.
