School Matrons (Day & Night) - East Grinstead

To start: Summer Term 2024. Competitive salaries + accommodation. Our client is a co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 2½ - 13 in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Working in a small, supportive team, their Matrons are at the very heart of school life and they play a pivotal role to ensure the provision of excellent standards of pastoral care and ensure the wellbeing and happiness of their pupils, including the provision of routine medical care when required.

In conjunction with their Head of Boarding, their Matronal team are key to creating a warm, home from home atmosphere, in which their pupils can feel safe, secure, and happy, to enable them to flourish and fulfil their potential as they embark on their learning journey. Their Matrons are continually attending to their pupils' varying needs that range from looking after pupils when they are unwell, listening and offering support when they are upset, to teaching pupils good manners, and being an excellent role model in showing consideration and respect for others. In return you will be working within a supportive and experienced team, in a pivotal role with the ability to make a real difference to our pupil's journey through the school.

Responsibilities
  • Support pastoral care and pupil wellbeing as part of the boarding provision.
  • Look after pupils when they are unwell and provide routine medical care as required.
  • Listen, offer support when pupils are upset, and help foster a safe, secure, and happy environment.
  • Model good manners and respectful behaviour, and encourage pupils to reach their potential.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Boarding and residential staff to maintain a warm, home-from-home atmosphere.
Qualifcations and Experience
  • Experience as a matron or in a relevant role is welcome, but applications from those with a genuine interest in working with children and a desire to gain boarding experience will be considered.
  • Interest in working with children and ability to contribute to a caring boarding environment.
Salary and Benefits
  • Day Matron salary: £22,500 – £26,000 per annum.
  • Night Matron salary: £17,909 – £19,207 per annum.
  • Starting salaries depend on previous experience and qualifications.
  • On-site living during term-time is a requirement; fully subsidised accommodation available for successful applicants.
