Job summary

Orkney Islands Council is hiring a janitor for Orphir Primary School. The role covers general cleaning and maintenance to keep buildings and grounds well maintained, secure and safe. You will report to the Head Teacher and can discuss flexible working where possible.

The successful candidate will have experience in routine maintenance, good communication and organisation skills, and hold PVG Level 2 disclosure. Salary includes Distant Islands Allowance and a Sunday/weekday pattern as stated.

Qualifications

• Experience of carrying out routine general maintenance with a commitment to a high standard of working.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Understanding of security issues.
• PVG Level 2 disclosure is required for this regulated role.

Responsibilities

• Provide a janitorial service to the school, including general cleaning and maintenance.
• Ensure school buildings and grounds are well maintained, secure and safe.
• Respond to a variety of challenges with reliability and professionalism.
• Work patterns are Monday to Friday; flexible working may be discussed.
