Job summary

City of Derby Academy is seeking a proactive Librarian to manage and develop the school library as a vibrant learning hub. You will promote reading for pleasure, support literacy across the curriculum, and foster an inclusive environment for all students.

You will organise reading initiatives, manage the library system, and work with staff to enhance resources and interventions, helping students read, learn, and succeed.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a library or educational setting is desirable.
• Commitment to promoting literacy and reading for pleasure.
• Ability to collaborate with teaching staff to support curriculum goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the school library as a welcoming, learning-focused space.
• Promote a strong reading-for-pleasure culture across the academy.
• Organise reading initiatives and support literacy and intervention programmes.
• Recommend resources and support curriculum planning with staff.
• Maintain and expand the library collection and resources.
• Manage book loans via the library management system and monitor usage.
• Create an inclusive environment that supports diverse languages and backgrounds.
